Ten Baking Tips For New Bakers

Interested in learning how to bake? We’ve all been there, heck I am still a newbie, but I got you covered. Here are my ten baking tips for new bakers.

Tip One: Gather ALL your ingredients first.

Always, always, ALWAYS gather your ingredients first! Measure everything before you begin the process and place them at an arms length. Not only does it make baking more organized, it also keeps your workspace clean.

Smooth baking is fun baking!

Tip Two: Invest in simple baking tools.

A spatula, whisk, mixing bowls, measuring cups and measuring spoons are generally all you need to bake. Invest in more equipment once you are ready for more advanced baking.

Tip Three: Join Baking Communities.

Baking communities on Facebook, Instagram and websites such as all recipes can be helpful when you are looking for tips and tricks.

Now, this is my own experience but be careful with Facebook. I found they had too many fake accounts which caused my blog to see a ton of spam.

Tip Four: Temperature is essential.

Hiving room-temperature ingredients work better than having cold-temperature ingredients. These ingredients include items such as, cream cheese, milk and eggs.

Having your ingredients at room temperature will help bring your batter together beautifully!

Remember to preheat your oven

Tip Five: Embrace Mistakes!

Mistakes happen, embrace it! Don’t allow your mistakes to push you away from baking. Learn from them and grow. Don’t be that person who says “I can’t bake.” or “I don’t know how to bake.”

P.S. If you enjoy reading my post, don’t forget to subscribe.

Tip Six: Crack your eggs in a separate bowl.

There is nothing worse than having egg shells in your batter and then having to dig them out … especially the small pieces. Cracking eggs into a separate bowl THEN adding the eggs to the batter will avoid the mess of dropping shells into your batter.

Tip Seven: Practice Patience.

Baking takes time. Avoid opening your oven while your baked goods are baking. Allow your bread to rise without tampering with it, allow your baked goods to cool down before glazing, and allow your ingredients to come to room temperature before you bake.

I will admit, I tend to get impatient when waiting for my butter to come to room temperature, instead, I use the microwave. But that is our secret shhhhh

Tip Eight: Don’t half a** your measurements.

Spoon and level everything! When you avoid properly measuring your ingredients, your batter will be either too wet or too dry. Accurately measure everything.

Tip Nine: Grease your pans before adding your batter.

When you skip this step your baked goods can get stuck to your pan, trust me, that is not fun. Use parchment paper, use butter, heck even better, try my cake grease for the perfect cake release.

Tip Ten: Have fun!

Lastly, HAVE FUN!!!! Don’t allow your mistakes to ruin the joy of baking and even if you are not good, embrace it! We’ve all been there, practice makes perfect!
