Melted Butter Pie Crust – Easy, No-Roll Recipe:

First, you’ll start by whisking together your dry ingredients — flour, sugar, and salt — in a mixing bowl. This ensures everything is evenly distributed before adding your butter. Next, pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture begins to clump together and resemble soft crumbs. You’ll notice the dough starts forming quickly; at this stage, you’ll gradually add cold water just until it holds together. The goal is a soft, pliable dough that’s easy to press but not sticky.

Once your dough is ready, move on to shaping it. Instead of rolling, you’ll simply press the dough into your pie dish using your fingers, working from the center outward. This part comes together easily — no rolling pin, no fuss! After that, take a moment to smooth out the edges or create a decorative rim with your fingers or a fork. If you have time, chill the crust briefly to help it firm up before baking.

Finally, bake the crust until golden or fill it with your favorite pie filling and continue baking.

What Does Lactose Free Mean?

First and foremost, I try my best to incorporate lactose free ingredients in all my recipes. These ingredients can include, butter, milk, cream cheese etc. With that being said, sometimes it is hard to make an entire recipe using ALL lactose free ingredients. For example, my ice cream recipes include, condensed milk- NOT LACTOSE FREE.

Contrary to what some may believe, lactose – free is not the same as dairy free. Lactose – free still contains milk, however, there is a certain component, I believe a type of sugar (I may be wrong) where the lactose is removed from dairy, making it lactose – free. Dairy free on the other hand, contains ZERO milk. Alternatives for dairy free are almond milk, oat milk, soy milk etc. You can learn more about the differences here.

Which Ingredients Are Lactose Free?

  • Butter – I used lactose-free butter

Frequently Asked Questions?

Can I use salted butter instead of unsalted?

Yes! If you’re using salted butter, simply reduce or omit the added salt in the recipe by half. The crust will still turn out buttery and delicious.

Do I need to chill the dough before baking?

Not necessarily. That’s one of the perks of this recipe — it doesn’t require chilling. However, if you have a few extra minutes, a short chill (10–15 minutes) helps the crust hold its shape a bit better while baking.

How do I know when my pie crust is done baking?

When the edges are lightly golden and the bottom looks dry and set, your crust is ready. For filled pies, you’ll notice a slight golden color around the edges as the filling finishes baking.

Why did my crust shrink in the oven?

That usually means it wasn’t pressed firmly enough into the pan, or the dough was too warm. Try chilling the crust for 10 minutes before baking next time — it helps it stay perfectly in place.
