Delicious Apple Almond Butter Dates

Start by gathering all your supplies and measuring your ingredients. You’ll need plastic wrap (saran wrap), a handful of dates, ½ cup of almond butter, and melted chocolate (optional). Once everything is ready, pit the dates if they aren’t already. Lay the pitted dates flat on a sheet of plastic wrap, then place another sheet of plastic wrap on top. Using a rolling pin, flatten the dates evenly. Remove the top layer of plastic wrap and spread a generous amount of almond butter over the flattened dates. Place a whole apple in the center, then use the bottom layer of plastic wrap to wrap the date and almond butter mixture completely around the apple. Once the apple is fully covered, transfer it to the freezer and freeze for up to 40 minutes or until the dates have firmed up.

Optional: While the dates are hardening, you can go ahead and melt your favorite chocolate

Once the dates have firmed up around the apple, carefully remove the plastic wrap—it might get a little messy! Finally, drizzle or spread the melted chocolate generously over the entire apple, slice it up, and enjoy!

What Does Lactose Free Mean?

First and foremost, I try my best to incorporate lactose free ingredients in all my recipes. These ingredients can include, butter, milk, cream cheese etc. With that being said, sometimes it is hard to make an entire recipe using ALL lactose free ingredients. For example, my ice cream recipes include, condensed milk- NOT LACTOSE FREE.

Contrary to what some may believe, lactose – free is not the same as dairy free. Lactose – free still contains milk, however, there is a certain component, I believe a type of sugar (I may be wrong) where the lactose is removed from dairy, making it lactose – free. Dairy free on the other hand, contains ZERO milk. Alternatives for dairy free are almond milk, oat milk, soy milk etc. You can learn more about the differences here.

Which Ingredients Are Lactose Free?

  • Zero!

Storing And Freezing:

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Freezing is not recommended, as the texture of the apple can become mushy. But trust me, you won’t have anything left to store once you’ve had a bite.

Frequently Asked Questions?

Can I use peanut butter instead?

Absolutely! Any nut or seed butter works here—try cashew, peanut, or sunflower seed butter.

What kind of apples can I use?

Choose a sweet, crisp variety like Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp for the best contrast in texture.

Do I have to use a whole apple?

Not at all. You can slice the apple and make smaller, individual bites using date-almond butter “sandwiches.”

What type of dates work best?

Medjool dates are ideal because they’re large, soft, and easy to flatten. Deglet Noor dates are smaller and firmer, so they may be harder to work with.

Delicious Apple Almond Butter Dates Fun Variations:

  • Add a walnut or pecan for crunch.
  • Top with shredded coconut for a tropical twist.
  • Use dried figs instead of dates for a different sweetness.

Delicious Apple Almond Butter Dates Tips Variations:

  • Chill your dates slightly before slicing for cleaner cuts.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon or sea salt for extra flavor.
  • For a more indulgent version, drizzle with dark chocolate.

Troubleshooting:

1. Dates falling apart? Use fresh, plump Medjool dates—they’re easier to open and stuff.

2. Almond butter too runny? Chill it slightly before spreading.
