The Ultimate Decadent Chocolate Brownie
These Ultimate Decadent Chocolate Brownies are perfect for those who ABSOLUTELY love chocolate!
Okay seriously guys, if you are a FAN of chocolate, such as myself then these brownies are perfect for you! These brownies are loaded with CHOCOLATE and I mean LOADED.
First, we have the melted unsweetened chocolate. Second, we have Hershey’s Cocoa powder and last, to top it ALLLLL off I chopped some Lindt chocolate and tossed them into the batter as well.
Soooooo yes, decadent and rich!
What Does Lactose Free Mean?
First and foremost, I try my best to incorporate lactose free ingredients in all my recipes. These ingredients can include, butter, milk, cream cheese etc. With that being said, sometimes it is hard to make an entire recipe using ALL lactose free ingredients. For example, my ice cream recipes include, condensed milk- NOT LACTOSE FREE.
Contrary to what some may believe, lactose – free is not the same as dairy free. Lactose – free still contains milk, however, there is a certain component, I believe a type of sugar (I may be wrong) where the lactose is removed from dairy, making it lactose – free. Dairy free on the other hand, contains ZERO milk. Alternatives for dairy free are almond milk, oat milk, soy milk etc. You can learn more about the differences here.
Which Ingredients Are Lactose Free?
- Butter – I used lactose free butter for these Ultimate Decadent Chocolate Brownies

Three Different Types Of Chocolate Brownies:
Chewy Brownies: Include oil, such as Canola into the batter as opposed to butter, making brownies more chewy.
Fudgy Brownies: Have a high fat ratio, meaning more butter and chocolate, like my recipe for Ultimate Decadent Chocolate Brownies
Cakey Brownies: Have more flour in the batter than fat.
Recipe At A Glance:
Eggs: You will need four eggs at room temperature.
Sugar: You will need one cup of granulated sugar and half a cup of brown sugar.
Flour: You will need one cup of all purpose flour.
Cocoa Powder: You will need one cup of cocoa powder. I used the Hershey brand.
Butter: You will need one cup of melted lactose-free butter.
Vanilla Extract: You will need one tsp. I used LorAnn Vanilla Extract.
Salt: One tsp of salt for taste.
Melted Chocolate: Half a cup of melted chocolate. I used Baker’s Semi Sweet Chocolate.
Lindt Chocolate: You will need a handful of these to chop up and toss into the batter. Optional
Equipment Needed For Ultimate Decadent Chocolate Brownies:
Cooking Pot: For melting the chocolate and butter.
Measuring Spoons and Cup: For accurate measurements.
Mixing Bowl: For the ingredients.
Small Bowl: For cracking your eggs.
Handheld Mixer: For mixing.
Whisk: For mixing the dry ingredients.
Rectangular Oven Pan: For the brownies to bake in.
Step By Step Instructions:
Step One:
Preheat your oven to 350F
Gather all your ingredients, measure everything, grease your pan, then set aside.
Step Two:
Let’s start with melting the chocolate and butter!
In a cooking pot add in lactose free butter and chocolate. Melt in low heat, do not bring to a boil. Once the pot is warm enough and the butter and chocolate start to melt remove the pot off the stove and allow everything to melt before pouring into the dry batter.
Step Three:
The dry ingredients.
In a mixing bowl, add flour, salt, sugar, and cocoa powder, use a whisk to remove any lumps.
Step Four:
Cracking the eggs.
I prefer to crack eggs into a small bowl first to avoid any eggshells in my batter.
Using a small bowl, crack all four eggs then pour the eggs into the batter and mix using a handheld mixer or spatula.
Step Five:
Pouring the melted chocolate and butter.
Once the chocolate and butter has melted, pour the entire mixture into the dry ingredients and mix well using either a spatula or hand mixer.
Step Six:
Chop the Lindt chocolate.
You do not necessarily have to do this and it is optional. Chop the Lindt chocolate into small pieces and toss them into the batter and fold them in using a spatula.
Step Seven:
Pour the entire batter into a rectangular oven safe pan and bake for about 30-35 minutes.
Use a toothpick and insert it into the middle of the brownie batter. You want your toothpick to come out somewhat dirty.
Do not over bake your brownies, they will continue to cook after you pull them out of the oven.
Serve and enjoy!
Tips And Variations:
- Wait until your chocolate brownies have COMPLETELY cooled down before cutting into them or they WILL fall apart.
- Lactose free butter was used but feel free to use butter that is not lactose free.
- Do not over bake your brownies. They will continue to cook AFTER you’ve pulled them out of the oven.
- The chopped Lindt chocolate is optional. You can use chocolate chips instead or leave out all together.
