Vanilla Number Cake
A number cake is such a fun and personalized way to celebrate a birthday—especially for kids! For my daughter’s special day, I made a soft and fluffy vanilla cake and cut it into a big number 5. It’s simple, creative, and looks like something straight out of a bakery—but you can absolutely make it at home.

Vanilla Number Cake
I love baking cakes for my kids’ birthdays – There’s something exciting and exhausting about taking the time to create a cake just for them.
First, you’ll start with a classic vanilla sheet cake that’s sturdy enough to cut and shape. Next, once the cake has cooled completely, you’ll use a template to cut out the number 5 – I used this one. Then, you’ll prepare a smooth buttercream frosting to decorate and bring it to life. Finally, you’ll add fun toppings like sprinkles, fruit, or candy to make it extra special for your child

- Easy to customize for any age or number
- No special cake pans needed

Vanilla Number Cake Tips and Variations
- Use room temperature ingredients for a smooth batter.
- Cut the cake in half once completely cooled.
- Don’t overmix once the wet and dry ingredients are combined—this helps keep the cake fluffy.
- Separate the cake layers to keep them from sticking together until ready to frost.
Troubleshooting Common Mistakes
1. Cake sinking in the middle? Oven might be too hot, or the batter was overmixed.
2. Avoid over mixing the batter.
3. Dry cake? Be sure to measure your flour correctly and don’t overbake.
