10 Baking Hacks Every Home Baker Should Know
Baking should be fun, not frustrating! Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, these 10 genius baking hacks will save you time, prevent common mistakes, and make your baked goods taste even better!!!

One:Soften Butter in Minutes (Without Melting It!)
Forgot to take your butter out of the fridge? No problem!
Hack: Cut the butter into small cubes and let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. If you’re in a rush, place the cubes between two pieces of parchment paper and roll them with a rolling pin—softened butter in seconds!
Bonus: You can also microwave a glass of water for 1 minute, then place the warm glass upside down over your butter for a quick softening trick.

Two:Make Your Own Buttermilk Substitute
Many recipes call for buttermilk, but who keeps that on hand?
Hack: Mix 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, and voilà —homemade buttermilk!
Works great in pancakes, cakes, and biscuits.

Three:Keep Brown Sugar Soft with a Marshmallow
Tired of rock-hard brown sugar?
Hack: Store a marshmallow or a slice of bread in your brown sugar container. The moisture will keep it soft and easy to scoop.
Fix for hard sugar: Microwave it with a damp paper towel for 30 seconds.
Four:Prevent Sticky Measuring Cups
Measuring honey, syrup, or peanut butter can be a sticky mess.
Hack: Spray your measuring cup with non-stick cooking spray before pouring in sticky ingredients. Everything will slide right out!
Works great for: Honey, molasses, and even Nutella.

Five:Use Cornstarch for the Softest Cookies
Want bakery-style, extra-soft cookies?
Hack: Add 1-2 teaspoons of cornstarch per cup of flour in your cookie dough. It keeps cookies thick, tender, and chewy.
Try this instead: Chocolate chip cookies and snickerdoodles.

Six: Revive Stale Cookies in Seconds
Leftover cookies gone stale?
Hack: Place a slice of bread in an airtight container with the cookies overnight. The cookies will absorb the moisture from the bread and become soft again.
Quick fix: Microwave cookies with a damp paper towel for 10 seconds.

Seven: Keep Your Cake from Sticking (Even Without Parchment Paper!)
No parchment paper? No problem!
Hack: Grease your pan, then sprinkle it with flour or cocoa powder (for chocolate cakes). Shake out the excess for a non-stick surface.
Bonus trick: Cut a coffee filter into a circle and use it as a parchment paper liner!
Eight:Use a Cup to Get Perfectly Round Cookies
Misshapen cookies? There’s a fix for that!
Hack: As soon as your cookies come out of the oven, place a round cookie cutter or a glass over them and swirl in a circular motion. This reshapes them perfectly!
Best for: Sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and peanut butter cookies.

Nine: Test Your Baking Powder & Baking Soda Before Using
Old leavening agents = flat cakes and dense muffins.
Hack: Test baking powder by adding a teaspoon to hot water—it should fizz immediately.
Test baking soda by adding a teaspoon to vinegar—it should bubble right away.
Ten:Make Your Own Cake Flour Substitute
Cake flour makes baked goods lighter, but you don’t need to buy it!
Hack: For every 1 cup of all-purpose flour, remove 2 tablespoons of flour and replace them with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. Sift well, and you’ve got cake flour!
Perfect for light, fluffy cakes, and cupcakes.
